Dale Earnhardt drove the red No. 11 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 in the opening round of IROC XI at Daytona International Speedway on February 13, 1987. He started eighth and finished second by a car length to Geoff Bodine, who went on to win the series championship. Earnhardt would go on to win the series championship in 1990, 1995, 1999 and 2000.
